GBS

Guillian Barre Syndrome

Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is a rare neurological disorder where the immune system mistakenly attacks peripheral nerves, leading to muscle weakness and paralysis. It often starts with tingling and weakness in the legs and can progress rapidly. GBS is triggered by infections, and the exact cause involves an autoimmune response. Treatment includes supportive measures such as intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) and plasma exchange. While it can be serious, many individuals recover with medical care, especially when diagnosed and treated early.
