The BMW 325is was a variant of the E30 BMW 3 Series. Introduced in 1987, the 325is was a performance focused car, indended to create a more affordable alternative to the E30 M3. The 325is was only offered in a coupe body style, and was powered by BMW's M20B25 engine. This 2.5L inline six engine produced 168hp, which when combined with upgraded suspension and a limited slip rear differential, created a truly special drivers car. BMW offered both Manual and Automatic transmission options, and continued to build the E30 325is until 1991.
While the BMW 3 line remains one of the best-selling series of all time, nowhere in the world does the vehicle have such a dedicated fan base or glamorised image but South Africa. With the vehicle excellent performance, without a doubt the BMW E30 took over the spinning industry in South Africa. Then gained the never forgotten nickname Gusheshe: iThemba la ma Gomosha
