Keeping the Tradition Alive

Tandem surfing is part sport and part art. Two people surfing together on one board, often performing acrobatic lifts. In the early days, Waikiki beach boys would take visiting tourists for a ride on their surfboards, often picking them up. In the 60's it progressed and became part of surf contests as surfers displayed their prowess as watermen with more difficult lifts. Today there is a resurgence in the sport with couples internationally competing and surfing larger, more challenging waves in new lifts and manuevers.
If you enjoy surfing and want to share it with another person, tandem surfing can open up a whole new world of stoke. If you are new to surfing, try going tandem surfing with an experienced waterperson to experience the thrill of riding a wave.
