Megan's Letters
Letter 1: Three months of microadventures 🙋🏻♀️
Hi, I'm Megan.
In October 2023, I left my career as a client services professional in
advertising after 10 years. This was really exciting for
two reasons:
First, I was about to get married to my partner of 8 years, throw
a big party for our friends and family and then head for a fantastic
honeymoon to Borneo, to explore the jungle, encounter some amazing
wildlife, and to unplug from the world together.
Secondly, I'd finally saved enough money (and courage) to
activate my 'fuck it phase' and spend some time exploring what career
path I might like to turn to next.
So far, this has been through short courses in various subjects. Or, as
I like to call them, microadventures.
Here's a list of microadventures I've been on so far...
- A three day bootcamp for the Adobe Creative Cloud programmes, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
- A day in a glass studio, learning the craft of Verre Eglomise (guilding gold leaf onto glass)
- A copperplate calligraphy taster session
- A week at a wig school, learning to create wigs and period hairstyles for theatre
- And finally... spending three weeks on SheCodes Basics, learning HTML, CSS and JavaScript -- enabling me to build this webpage!
