There are 282 Munros in total, the tallest is Ben Nevis at 1,345 m and the smallest is Ben Vane at only 915 m.

Munros vary in difficulty, as height, gradient of climb and terrain are often drastically different between each one. The best first step if you are considering climbing a Munro is to look on the walkhighlands website , here you will find information on difficulty, best routes, as well as tips and tricks from other hikers to help you out on the day.

Once you have climbed one, you are sure to get addicted. The adrenalin and sense of accomplishment is hard to beat, coupled with the often breath-taking views from the summit. You will likely decide to; "bag them all".

Munro Bagging = The act of reaching the summit of a Munro, once this is done you can class it as "bagged" and tick it off your list.

Prime bagging time for the amateur hiker is said to be between August and October.
