SalteƱas

Everyone loves them!


A salteƱa is a type of sweet-stuffed-baked empanada from Bolivia. They are very savory pastries filled with beef, pork or chicken mixed in a sweet, slighty spicy sauce containing olives, chopped potatoes, and a quail egg. Nowadays you can find a veggie and pizza version. The best salteƱas are found in the cities of Cochabamba and Sucre. Usually, you eat salteƱas between 9 am and 12 pm; being considered as a mid-morning snack.
