Stoiscim was funded in Ancient Greece, in 300 b.C.
The story begins when Zeno of Citium is navigating through the seas with his goods when, tragically, the boat sank and he lost everything he had in life.
When he managed to reach the shore, he didn't linger to anything he'd lost. Instead, he started to go to libraries and study philosophy.
He then understood that what mattered most weren't things.
Zeno founded a school named Stoa Poikile, which translates to Painted Portico. In here, he taugh everyone his philosophy.
After Zeno's passing, there were more thinkers and developers of this philosophy:
Chrysippus,
Seneca,
Marcus Aurelius.
