Studio Ghibli is a Japanese animation film studio known for its
imaginative films. Founded in 1985 by Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata, it
has produced many animated films. The movies are characterized by their unique
storytelling, beautiful and detailed animation and a blend of realism and
fantasy.
Some of their films you may have heard of are “My Neighbor Totoro“,
“Howl`s Moving Castle“ and “Spirited Away“.
The movies are known and loved by fans around the world and appeal to audiences
of all ages. Fans especially love the strong characters,
hand-drawn animation and environmental themes.
Ponyo is actually a goldfish. In her human form, she meets Sōsuke, a little boy, and they go on an adventure full of dangers. She is really cute, an absolute extrovert and only does what she wants. But she also always has the wellfare of her friends in mind.
Kiki is a thirteen-year-old witch. She leaves her home in order to
undergo training. In her new town, she sets up her own delivery
service.
She is strong-willed, curious and a little stubborn. But she always
tries to help her customers.
Chihiro stumbles into the spirit world and has to work in a bathhouse in order to save her parents. In the beginning, she is very shy and anxious but her experiences in this new environment help her grow into a very hardworking, brave and outgoing little girl.
Arrietty is a borrower and preparing for her first year of borrowing.
She is curious and loves going on adventures. She loves exploring nature and the garden and collects plants to
decorate her room. In her movie, she meets humans for the first time.
