The Rubik's Cube is a 3-D combination puzzle originally invented
in 1974 by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Ernő Rubik.
Rubik later used the Cube as a learning exercise to teach his students
about 3-dimensional spaces. Little did he know his “Magic Cube” (as he
originally named it) would become one of world's most famous puzzles of
all time!
As of March 2021, it has been sold over 450 million times, which makes it
the best-selling puzzle game and toy worldwide.
Unlike most math puzzles, anyone can solve a Rubik's
cube, regardless of math knowledge or age, in fact; there are kids as
young as three years old who can solve them.
The foundation of this skill is to break down a problem into many tiny
parts and then focus on each of them separately.
With thousands of twists, turns, and combinations, the Rubik's cube is
similar to a mini-universe.
