Bringing plants into the home is nothing new. There’s an impulse within us to place plants in our homes. It seems rooted deep within our souls. Intellectuals have tried to layer reasons on top of this to explain the
underlying motivation for indoor plants.
There’s strong support in modern science for the idea that we prefer living in the midst of plants. The foliage does something primal and unexpected to our brains, sending the activity of stress centres down while
elevating mood.
Plants, it would seem, can evoke emotions in us similar to that of art or music. There’s a symbiosis between them and us
on an aesthetic level – and that’s unlikely to go away anytime soon.
