In the Formula 1 World Championship, there are 21 drivers and 10 teams: each chooses two drivers who are on contract, and the teams choose whether to renew the driver's contract for the following year. A third driver can replace one of the other two if he is unable to take part in a race.

The F1 world championship is currently made up of around twenty Grand Prix, each held in a different country. In 2023, there will be 24 circuits on 4 continents (Europe, Asia, America and Oceania). Some of these circuits are legendary: Silverstone, Monza, Spa-Francorchamps and Monaco.

The sport has undergone many changes over the years. The way the sport works and the regulations that make it safer and more competitive every year have changed a great deal. Formula 1 has evolved since 1950, when there were many deaths every year due to accidents.
