It doesn't need to be that hard. Really. Just eat 5 pieces of fruit or veg a day! That's it! Evidence shows there are significant health benefits to getting at least 5 portions of a variety of fruit and vegetables every day. That's 5 portions of fruit and veg in total, not 5 portions of each. A portion of fruit or vegetables is 80g. What are the 5-a-day foods? Fresh, frozen, dried and canned fruit and vegetables all count. Also, pulses can count for one of your five-a-day. Remember that potatoes, yam, plantain, and cassava do not contribute towards your five-a-day because they are starchy foods. But, sweet potatoes, parsnips and butternut squash do count!
