Ever wondered what the Wizarding World would have looked like had the Order lost that dreadful day at the Battle of Hogwards and instead of emerging triumphantly from the ashes Harry Potter, The Boy Who Lived, died?
Well, this is exactly what this captivating fanfic is all about. The events in the beginning of Manacled occurs directly after the death of Harry Potter and end of the Second Wizarding War, where Hermonine Granger is sent to Draco Malfoy, High Reeve of the Death Eaters, in a repopulation effort. Being as Hermonine was part of the Order of Pheonix, she knows of intimate secrets of the Order which is of great interest to Voldermort, however her mind has seemed to ward of any and all infomation relating to the war and it is up to the High Reeve to crack open her mind and retrieve that information, at any means necessary.

The author, SenLinYu, is a master world-builder and a phenomenal writer. She really emcapsulates the balance between describing a horrific event in a way that the gravity of the situation is clear to the reader but is also not too graphic that it is off-putting. This dark imagining of the Battle of Hogwarts also features elements and themes from the popular Hulu show, The Handmaiden's Tale so it is advised to read the trigger warnings before starting this book.
