The Masters Tourament (aka The Masters) is one of the four major golf
tournmanets held every year in the professional men's golf season. The
tourament always takes place in the month of April.
Unlike any other tourament, it has many traditions which are upheld every
year:
-
Unlike any other major, the tourament is always held at the same golf
course at Augusta National Golf Club ,
Georgia, USA
-
The winner always receives a green jacket. The winner keeps it for the
entire year and then always awards it to the new champion of that
year's tourament.
-
The winner gains lifetime access to the tourament and can play in any
future Masters tourament regardless of their world ranking.
-
Every year, the Wednesday before the tourament starts, there is a Par
3 contest held on the Augusta Par 3 course. This is always a relaxed
event with many players letting family members or friends caddy for
them.
Fact: NO-ONE who has won the Par 3 contest has gone on to the
Masters in the same year.
-
The Masters requires caddies to wear a uniform consisting of a white
jumpsuit, a green Masters cap, white shoes and the surname of the golf
player they are caddying for on their back.
-
Every year, on the Tuesday evening before the tourament begins, the
previous champion gets to host a "Champions Dinner" where the entire
menu is selected by them for everyone attending.
