Nurturing the Doula Heart
Providing emotional support is the main task of a doula. Careful
attention to the inner well-being of clients is present in every word,
touch, approach, and technique utilized. In our work, doulas believe in
people. We believe in life and the mysterious enigma of death. We aspire
to promote people's sense of agency and growth through deep listening
and personalized, nonjudgemental care.
Doulas are reverant allies. We align
ourselves compassionately with the goals, wishes, and needs of each
client. We normalize and clarify. Quite simply, doulas care-in the most
wholehearted, unconditional interpretation of the term, understanding
and respecting the basic need to connect as we behold the full range of
emotions and experiences.
