which originated in ancient India. Yoga is one of the six Āstika (orthodox) schools of Indian
philosophical traditions.
There is a broad variety of yoga schools, practices, and goals in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. The term
"Yoga" in the Western world often denotes a modern form of hatha yoga and yoga as exercise, consisting largely of the
postures or asanas.

Does Yoga have to hurt?
It’s important to note here that there’s a big (!) difference between pain and physical effort. While it helps your flexibility and strength to put a certain strain on your muscles, Yoga should never be painful. -
Do I need to know the SANSKRIT names of all poses?
If you feel comfortable using the Sanskrit names – congratulations! There’s nothing wrong with that. Not at all. However, if you’re struggling to memorize the Sanskrit terms, don’t worry too much about them. -
I am quite stiff - can I still practice Yoga?
Not practising Yoga because of inflexibility is an often heard statement out there. But this is for sure: not only will Yoga help improve your range of flexibility but in fact, being ‘stiff’ may prove to be an asset in your practice.
