Michael Scott
Michael is the main character of the series, serving as the Regional Manager of the Scranton branch, known as Dunder Mifflin Inc. Apart from his masterful salesmanship, Michael is lacking in almost any other skills, management or otherwise. Michael's habits of joking around and treating professional colleagues as personal friends are often inappropriate for management.
Pam
Her character is shy, growing assertive but amiable, and artistically inclined. Pam acts as something of a guardian angel for Michael, steering him away from (numerous) bad ideas and towards his (fewer but real) good ones.
Dwight Schrute
Assistant to the regional manager, volunteer sheriff deputy and beet plantation owner. Dwight is trained in the art of surveillance as a black belt in Goju-Ryu karate, and is the senpai at his dojo. He does not like to smile, as showing one's teeth is a submission signal in primates, and that whenever someone smiles at him, "all [he] sees is a chimpanzee begging for its life."
Kelly Kapoor
She is the former Customer Service Representative at Dunder Mifflin/Sabre's Scranton Branch, but left for Ohio with her then-boyfriend. She is the office drama queen, obsessed with pop culture
Kevin Malone
Also knwon as Ashton Kutcher. Kevin received a job as an accountant at Dunder Mifflin after applying for a job in the warehouse because Michael Scott had "a feeling about him. Kevin is typically quite subdued, although he is known for making blunt or offensive comments regarding the other employees.
Angela
She is head of the Accounting department. She can often be cold and stern with others. Angela loves cats and owned several of them.
Creed
Creed Bratton is a deviant, former hippie and homeless man employed at the Scranton branch of paper distributor Dunder Mifflin as a quality assurance manager. Creed is a mysterious figure who is prone to making bizarre or confusing statements on a regular basis.
Jim Halpert
Sales representative. His character serves as the intelligent, mild-mannered straight man role to Michael, although it is also defined by a rivalrous pranking on fellow salesman Dwight Schrute.
