BROOKLYN!! The Best Borough

The history of European settlement in Brooklyn spans more than 350 years. The settlement began in the 17th century as the small Dutch-founded town of "Breuckelen" on the East River shore of Long Island, grew to be a sizeable city in the 19th century and was consolidated in 1898 with New York City (then confined to Manhattan and the Bronx), the remaining rural areas of Kings County, and the largely rural areas of Queens and Staten Island, to form the modern City of New York.

Brooklyn continues to give birth to amazing cultural experiences, while maintaining the rich history and traditions that make the borough such a wonderful place to call home. Growing up in Brooklyn really allowed me the opportunity to experience and to learn about so much of the world in the walls of NYC. I was able to learn Russian as a young child due to the immense diversity that Brooklyn provides those that move there from all over the world. I would highly recommend visiting Brooklyn at least once and seeing all of the wonderful and amazing things the city of Brooklyn and the city of NYC have to offer.
