The Giant Boab
Kings Park and Botanic Garden is a 399.9 hectare (988 acre) park
overlooking Perth, Western Australia. It is home to over 324 native
plant varieties, 215 known indigenous fungi species and over 80 bird
species.
Kings Park is one of the world's largest and most beautiful inner city
parks. It is 60 hectares larger than New York's Central Park.
It is also home to a Giant Boab 'Gija Jumulu'. The iconic tree is
estimated to be 750 years old, and weighs 36 tonnes. It stretches 14
metres high and 8 metres wide at the branches. The trunk measures 2.5
metres in diameter, giving it its memorable shape.
