Progressive Metal, also known as Prog Metal, or simply Prog, is a subgenre of metal that fuses elements of heavy metal, progressive rock, and other experimental sounds. Artists incorporate a range of technical skills including guitar-driven melodies, complex chord structures, and unorthodox rhythm, meter changes, and syncopation, blending everything from death metal to experimental and avant-garde jazz as well as components of classical music resulting in a huge range of stylistic diversity. Some well known artists include Dream Theater, Opeth, Cynic, Meshuggah, and Atheist.
