Will the core 4 run it back? All eyes on the Nylander contract 👀

Everything you need to know going into the 2023-24 Season

Many additions and many subtractions from the roster in the off season will make for an interesting season. The additions of Domi and Bertuzzi will add much needed grit to the top six, with Domi able to move around in the lineup on the wing or center. The departures of Schenn and Holl on the D line will give more opportunity to our prospects, but overall our core D line is intact. With Bunting to Carolina, Bertuzzi should take his place on the first line at LW with Matthews and Nylander, that is, if Nylander gets resigned. Matthews, Nylander, and Bunting combined for the most effective O-line this past season, so there is certainly a gap to fill. So far, Treliving has had an impressive off-season, but there are still many big decisions looming that he will have to sort out before the season begins:

Matthews just inked a 4 year extension at $13.25m/season. While Leafs nation is beyond excited to have their star center locked in for the next few years, it leaves many wondering what this means for Nylander. He is asking for no less than $10m on his next contract, but we're hearing Toronto only wants to offer $8m max. Sign up for our newsletter to get updates in real time.
