Alice in Borderland is a TV series based on the Japanese manga series created by Haro Aso.


While the story borrows its name from the famous children's fantasy novel, Alice in Wonderland differs from Alice in Borderland in many ways.


It centres around protagonist Ryohei Arisu, who, like Alice, unexpectedly finds himself in another world of little sense.


However, Wonderland and Borderland are very different places. The former is characterised by whimsical and nonsenscial elements, while the latter is a dystopian version of Tokyo, a dangerous alternate reality within which the characters must survive by winning deadly games and survival challenges.


Other references to Wonderland within Alice in Borderland include the characters that are referred to as 'Hatter' and 'The Queen of Hearts'. In addition, Arisu and Alice share very similar frustrations during their struggle to find meaning and logic in a world that appears to have none.
