Ice hockey is a contact team sport played on ice, usually in a rink, in which two teams of skaters use their sticks to shoot a vulcanized rubber puck towards the opponent's net to score goals.

There are many ice hockey leagues worldwide, with the NHL being probably the most well-known.


Women's Ice Hockey

Ice hockey is also one of the fastest growing women's sports in the world.
While there are not as many organized leagues for women as there are for men, leagues of all levels exist. There is an annual IIHF World Women's Championships.
The chief difference between women's and men's ice hockey is that body checking is prohibited in women's hockey. In addition, players in women's competition are required to wear protective full-face masks.
