Cruising is an incredible way to see the world and there are several
cruiseliners that travel on the Mediterranean Sea. Among the cruise ships
navigating these waters is the majestic
Symphony of The Seas which is one of the largest in the
world. I had the privilege of spending a week of unforgettable adventures
on this sip. My stateroom with a balcony overlooking the sea was on the
7th deck of this impressive 17-deck ship ooh, la! la! The beginning of a
cruise is marked by the Sail Away party. It starts to unfold when the
captain makes an announcement over the PA system and everyone comes out to
experience this event and as the anchors are dropped and the ship starts
to manouvre out of the port of Barcelona the excitement is palpable
especially for first time cruisers who will not have experienced anything
like this before. There are colouful banners fluttering in the breeze and
the iconic funnel serves as a backdrop illuminated in a wonderful display.
All of this is topped by a live Carribbean band playing tunes from the
'80s while people toast and cheer, laugh and dance as the ship gradually
enters the wide waters of the Mediterranean sea and the port of Barcelona
gradually diminishes until eventually vanishing into the horizon and we
are surrounded by the deep blue sea. What a way to start a holiday! The
seven-day cruise travels through the captivating coasts of Spain, France
and Italy.

I am already setting my sights on my next cruise. Will it be Caribbean?
The allure of natural beauty, year round warm temperatures, warm clear
waters, white sandy beaches and lush tropical landscapes is hard to
resist. It is as if the Caribbean is calling out my soul. Or will an Artic
cruise be more appealing. An expedition into the ice wonders of snow
covered landscapes and pristine waters with glaciers towering up like
icebergs. A chance to catch the Northern Lights maybe? The silence and
serenity of the Arctic, a place not many people inhabit. What would that
be like? Come join me in my adventures and find out more.
