For the purpose of this write up, i will be focusing more on the evergreen Nigerian Delicacy, Pounded Yam locally called "Iyan". This food originates from the Southwestern part of Nigeria, The food is predominatly common amongst the Yorubas especially the Ijeshas and the Ekitis. Pounded yam is made from yam and it is a simple dish to make, but there are a few things to keep in mind to ensure that it turns out perfect every time. The most important thing to remember is to use the right kind of yam. Pounded yam is traditionally made with white yams. The yams should be peeled and cut into small pieces before boiling. Boil the yams in water until they are reassonably soft, then drain them and pour into mortar and mash with a pestle. Pounded yam is not only easy to make, but also delicious, hemce its health benefits that cannot be overlooked. pounded yam is packed with lots of nutrients and health benefits, some of which are:

Pounded yam can be paired with soups like: Egusi soup,Stewed Spinach, vegetable, Okra soup,ewedu,Ogbono soup.
Note, however that pounded yam can only be eaten by persons above 18years of age.
