I LOVE CLIMBING:

MOUNTAINS.

Girl at the summit of Mt St Helens

Hi, I'm Megan. And I love climbing mountains. I've summited Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens, and have plans to summit the other three active volcanoes in Washington State (USA): Mt. Baker, Glacier Peak, and Mt. Adams.

An interesting fact about Mt. St. Helens is that it erupted on May 18th, 1980. It became the largest and most destructive eruption in U.S. history. Approximately fifty-seven people were killed directly from the blast and 200 houses, 47 bridges, 15 miles (24 km) of railways and 185 miles (298 km) of highway were destroyed. Before the eruption, the mountain stood at 9,677 ft (2,950 m), but was 8,363 ft (2,549 m) after the eruption.
