✈️ Book Airfare Wisely:
All of these tips can generally help you save money: Booking flights
within a certain window (usually 4 months to 3 weeks from desired
travel date), booking on a certain day of the week (typically
mid-week), having flexible travel dates, traveling off-season (varies
by location).
Google Flights
is one good tool to help you decide the best time to purchase airfare.
🎒 Pack Light:
With recent airfare ticket price increases and changes, the most basic
airfare tickets don't include a carry-on. One way to save money if you
want to purchase the cheapest ticket option is to pack all your
belongings in solely a backpack to bring as your "personal item" which
is always included. If this isn't an option for you then paying for
checked bags lnline before arriving at the airport is generally
cheaper.
🛏️ Compare Places to Stay:
There is no one option that is better than another when it comes to
finding places to stay: hotels, motels, rental units, hostels, and the
list goes on. If you're comfortable with less privacy, hostels can be
a great, cheap option. If you prefer not to share a space, search
nearby hotels or (my personal favorite option) vacation rental sites
such as
Airbnb and
Vrbo.
🆓 Look for Free Activities:
Activities and excursions on vacation can be costly. Before you
travel, search top free things to do at your selected destination.
There is no shortage of options and information out there to help save
you some money on your next trip. Also, when possible, use travel
points and rewards to book activities.
