Influential Cultures
Nigerian and African-American Culture
African-American culture is arguably one of the most influential cultures worldwide. The individuals who comprise of this group are those who are descendants of the enslaved in the U.S. African-Americans are the inventors of many notable genres such as Rock and Roll, Rap, Hip Hop, Jazz, Blues, R&B, Gospel, and many others!
They are also the world's fashion trailblazers as they are the creators of streetwear, y2k, and other globally popular styles. African-Americans are also the creators of Soul Food and many other food items we see today such as Ranch, Potato chips, and even Ice Cream in the U.S!
Nigerian culture is another culture that has massive influence that is growing day by day. They are the driving force behind delicious foods such as Jollof Rice, Egusi Soup, Suya, Puff Puff, etc! They are also the creators and trailblazers of Afrobeats, a worldwide music genre home to popular artists such as Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tems, and Rema!
In addition to their musical influence, Nigerians are the authors of some of Africa's most famous and well known garments. Interestingly, Nigerians and African-Americans share some similarities in food and dance due to their connection by the slave trade (as many African-Americans have majority Nigerian DNA).
