Butterflies come in all colors and can be found across the globe. There are about 24,000 species of butterflies. Butterflies have no nose or lungs. Did you know, adult butterflies and caterpillars breathe through a series of tiny openings along the side of their bodies. Butterflies appeared in art dating 3500 years ago to ancient Egypt.

• 🐛 Hesperiidae

  Known as "Skippers," containing relatively small, fast-flying species. About 3,000 worldwide species.

• 🌸 Lycaenidae

  Blues, Hairstreaks and Coppers. Colors and patterns of sexes often differ. Over 5,000 world species.

• 🦋 Papilionidae

  Known as "Swallowtail, butterflies, most species have prominent "tails." Some 600 species in the world.
