Though widely known as Coffea robusta, the plant is scientifically identified as Coffea canephora, which has two main varieties, robusta and nganda.

Robusta coffee plants are hardier and more resistant to diseases and pests compared to Arabica plants. They can tolerate higher temperatures and thrive in low-altitude regions, making them suitable for cultivation in areas.
