Exploring the Wonders of Artificial Intelligence

Impact of AI on Society

AI's Influence on Employment

AI is having a significant impact on the job market. The World Economic Forum’s “The Future of Jobs Report 2020" predicts AI will replace 85 million jobs globally by 2025. The same report further indicates that AI may create 97 million new roles. But, the types of jobs that AI will create will differ from those that are being lost. For example, AI is already being used to automate repetitive and mundane tasks, such as data entry and processing. This means that jobs requiring these skills will likely be automated in the future. However, machines are less likely to replace jobs requiring human skills such as problem-solving, creativity, and empathy in the near future. As AI evolves, these jobs will be impacted as well, though. The good news is that AI will enhance these jobs and take jobs requiring problem-solving, creativity, and empathy to a whole new level creating new opportunities like never before.

AI in Finances

AI in finance is modernizing the entire industry by streamlining traditionally manual banking processes and unlocking deeper insights from generated data, helping dictate how and where investments are made. AI is also changing the customer experience by creating faster, contactless interactions that include real-time credit approvals and improved fraud protection and cybersecurity.

AI and Healthcare

The complexity and rise of data in healthcare means that artificial intelligence (AI) will increasingly be applied within the field. Several types of AI are already being employed by payers and providers of care, and life sciences companies. The key categories of applications involve diagnosis and treatment recommendations, patient engagement and adherence, and administrative activities. Although there are many instances in which AI can perform healthcare tasks as well or better than humans, implementation factors will prevent large-scale automation of healthcare professional jobs for a considerable period. Ethical issues in the application of AI to healthcare are also discussed.

AI in Education

Today, many priorities for improvements to teaching and learning are unmet. Educators seek technology-enhanced approaches addressing these priorities that would be safe, effective, and scalable. Like all of us, educators use AI-powered services in their everyday lives, such as voice assistants in their homes; tools that can correct grammar, complete sentences, and write essays; and automated trip planning on their phones. As a result, educators see opportunities to use AI-powered capabilities like speech recognition to increase the support available to students with disabilities, multilingual learners, and others who could benefit from greater adaptivity and personalization in digital tools for learning. They are further exploring how AI can enable writing or improving lessons, as well as their process for finding, choosing, and adapting material for use in their lessons.
