Burmese tea leaf salad is one of the most well known and popular dishes
throughout the country, Myanmar. Laphet which means "green tea" and
Thoke, which means "salad". Myanmar is one of the few countries where
tea is both consumed as a drink and as an eaten delicacy, in the form of
pickled tea, which is unique to this region. Laphet is regarded as a
national delicacy that plays a significant role in Burmese society, and
remains a traditional Burmese gesture of hospitality and is served to
guests visiting a home.

What ingredients are included in it?
Burmese Tea leaf salad is a simple salad mainly consisting of Laphet
(fermented tea leaf dressing), Traditional Burmese Crunchy Mix and some
chopped vegetables. The fermented tea leaves make the salad savory
(plus, the leaves are full of nutrients and antioxidants). In
traditional burmese crunchy mix, there are peanuts, split peas, sesame
seeds, garlic chips are included and full of flavour. For vegetables, it
can have chopped green cabbage, slices of tomato, garlic and green
chilli. The dressing is oil based, usually peanut oil, combined with a
bit of fish sauce and lime juice. You can aslo add dried shrimp in
mixing for better taste.
