Bachata
Dance of love and romance
Bachata is a style of dance that originated in the Dominican Republic which is now danced all over the
world. It
is connected with bachata music.
Due to the gentle music, close contact and hip movement, bachata is considered one of the most sensual
dances of
today.
The combination of simple steps and sensual body movements will make you fall in love with this special
dance.
Bachata is recognized as one of the characteristic rhythms of Latin America originating from Merengue,
Bolero
and Salsa
but differs from them by its more sensual style and numerous, unusual natural and soft movements of the hips
and
body.
Bachata is danced at a moderate pace in a four-quarter rhythm. The steps are constructed according to the
model
of three
steps of space motion, followed by a tap including a hip movement on the 4th beat.
The Dominican-American bachata group Aventura contributed to bachata music and dance becoming planetarily
popular with
their hit “Obsesión” to which we all swayed our hips a little.
