The Ukulele is a beautiful instrument that is surpisingly not from Hawai'i. It was introduced by Portuguese immigrants, from Maderia. The Ukulele originated in the 19th century as an Hawaiian inspired instrument of several portuguese instruments (such as Portuguese machete, cavaquinho, braguinha and rajão) a small guitar-like instrument.
