In an effort to teach my brain a new skill, I bought a sewing maching in the middle aisle at Aldi and watched some youTube videos. Almost immediately, I broke this machine and replaced it with a great quality mechanical machine and joined some local sewing classes. After I put my kids to bed, I put on a podcast and have lots of fun trying out new patterns for myself, for my friends, and for my kiddos! Sewing gives me a chance to decompress and to be creative. Making my own garments also allows me to opt out of the fast fashion industry, which is a huge contributor to environmental waste and pollution. If you spend lots of time making an item, trust me- you'll be more intentional in your clothing choices.
