Reformer Pilates is a form of pilates on a machine (refomer).This form it more intense and dynamic that
the mat pilates. The reformer machine uses springs to add resistance this contributes to the intensity.
It was created by Joseph Pilates, he was a very frail child which lead to him becoming a competent gymnast, diver and skier.
Pilates emigrated to the USA in the early 1920s with his wife Clara, and together they developed and taught the method
in their 'body-conditioning gym' in New York in 1926.
