Kouri-vini is a result of African, Indigenous, and
European languages, spoken by various phenotypes, due to Louisiana Creole
culture consisting of people from different ethnicities and identities.
Today, Louisiana Creole is critically endangered, spoken by fewer than
10,000 people. However, communities of language activists and enthusiasts
are working to revitialize the language by creating resources to learn the
language and providing spaces to foster communities of speakers.
