Waitomo Caves
Waitomo is rural village located on the North Island of New Zealand. It is home to the Waitomo Glowworm Caves. The caves are famous for its population of glowworm which attract many visitors every year. The glowworm found in the cave system are a speciies found exclusively in New Zealand. The larvae of this species glow to attract prey. They can grow up 40mm in length and build silk nests. Each nest can have around 30 threads which hang off the caves and they these threads to catch their prey.
