Marche extra virgin olive oil is a fresh, herbaceous
olive oil from the Italian region of Marche.
It has a strong
grassy flavor, sometimes accompanied by scents of almonds and/or
artichokes - the prevailing note depends on the olive variety that was
used the most.
Apart from the ten native olive varieties (Ascolana Tenera, Carboncella,
Coroncina, Mignola, Orbetana, Piantone di Falerone, Piantone di
Mogliano, Raggia, Rosciola dei Colli Esini and Sargano di Fermo),
Frantoio and Leccino olives are also used for this precious oil, as they
have been grown in the area for a century.
