Reading is percived as a form of escapism by many, a way of traveling
without necessarily moving.
Books are regarded as a safe haven by many, wheter because, thanks to
imagination, one's fully able
to immers in a good book and escape reality, or, if one is super
introverted, they are perfect as shields.
Many avid readers fear not having enough time, in their lives, to read
all the various books that they
would like to, some of them, me included 🙈, might also fall into
another category: the Compulsive Buyer,
where you end up buying way more books than you're able to read and
the pile only grows on shelves or
nightstands. This is what the Japanese have labeled as
"tsundoku".
