Paw Hsan which is also known as Myanmar Pearl Rice. It is grown in different regions in Myanmar such as Ayeyarwaddy Region and Shwebo Region. Although the same variety is grown, the rice from Shwebo region always obtain the highest pay when it is the season to harvest and go into the local market. It is well known for its cooking quality, fragrant aroma and luxurious texture. It is different from any other reputable rice varieties such as Basmati from India and Jasmine from Thailand. Its fluffiness and elongation are which make it unique from other products. No one can resist a bowl of freshly cooked Paw Hsan Rice with some meat and veggies.Despite its high quality, it is rare to see in export market as the country agriculture is not advanced enough to meet the standard of export market quota. It is a shame that it doesn't get the recognization it deserves. Let's just hope for the better days of Myanmar Agriculture.
