What is Foraging?
Foraging is the practice of searching for, identifying, and gathering
food and other provisions provided by nature within nature. Herbs,
plants, weeds, mushrooms, shellfish, wood, flowers, nectar, berries,
fruits, honey and nuts may be foraged. After identifying and collecting
wild foods, the forager typically cleans, cooks, preserves or eats what
has been found. The practice of catching fish and hunting are considered
separate from foraging, although collecting shellfish is also considered
a type of foraging.
