There are nine Asian small-clawed otters at Edinburgh Zoo - Barry and Luna, and their pups.
Barry was born at the Peak Wildlife Project in August 2017, while Luna was born at Newquay Zoo in February 2019. Both arrived here in Edinburgh in July 2020. The pair welcomed three pups in January 2021 named Garry, Clyde and Eden, and a further four pups in November 2021 called Yarrow, Isla, Esk and Ury.
Fun facts!
The Asian small-clawed otter is the smallest otter species in the world.
They are known for their extremely agile, hand-like front paws that feature the short claws that give the species its name.
Like other otter species, they have a powerful, rudder-like tail that propels and steers them in the water.
