Kellerwald-Edersee National Park

At the beginning of October, the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park was enlarged by a third - to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Bavarian Forest National Park. The area was increased by 1,950 hectares and now covers a total of 7,688 hectares.

Forest protection will become increasingly relevant in the coming years. What is needed are projects and measures that enable the preservation and promotion of old native forest ecosystems, not only for biodiversity but also with regard to climate change. The expansion and promotion of protected areas is a groundbreaking sign of how to deal with our old deciduous forest stands.
