Psychotherapy, also known as talk therapy,
or typically just "therapy",
is a type of care used to address emotional suffering and mental health
issues. It is studying and gaining understanding into life choices and
challenges faced by
individuals, couples, or families. It is provided by
any of a variety of educated experts, including
psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, or licensed counselors.
A qualified therapist and a client meet in an organized setting during
therapy sessions to discuss ways to make improvements in many areas of
their lives. Numerous treatment modalities are included in psychotherapy,
which is carried out by a wide range of clinicians employing a range of
techniques. Therapy, a form of treatment aimed at
relieving emotional distress and mental health problems, is a topic
containing a lot of stigma or considered taboo in cultures. I can
definitely say therapy is not just for those who
struggle with their mental health, but also for those
who prefer to talk to a professional about their problems. As a
Psychology student and a
mental health advocate, not only have I experienced
mental health problems, but I also encourage and support people who seek
out therapists.
