Jungfernsprung Burg Altdahn

Red and yellow sandstone rocks in the midst of green forests are characteristic of the region, in the middle of the Palatinate Forest/North Vosges Biosphere Reserve. The Dahner Felsenland can even boast of being one of the most impressive red sandstone rock landscapes in Germany. And this scenery continues on the French side. The rock formations have partly bizarre shapes. Again and again, these have inspired people's imagination and numerous myths, legends and mysterious stories have been told. The red sandstone was formed about 250 million years ago.
