Minerva, aka Minnie, started out on the streets of Detroit. No one knows
her story, but her. We don't know much, ya know, because she won't tell
us. (bada ding!) But we do know what she's shown us.
Since I foster failed Minnie, she's shown me:
Fear of Men (growling, cowering, shaking)
Fear of Outside (shaking/ trembling when door opened)
Fear of Punishment (hiding, trembling when peeing indoors)
Stress Related Appetite & Digestion Changes (does NOT eat when too
stressed; will stress poop 80 thousand times)
Fear of Excessive Movements (exercise, dance, people who animatedly talk
with their hands)
&& Fear of Loud Sounds
What Minnie has also shown:
Unconditional Love
Tail wags, zoomies, and lots of kisses!
Willingness and often excitement to get put in doggie clothes
a Very protective nature of her mama (aka: me)
an Excessive need to be pet all the time, or you will receive the
consequence of loud sighs, pouting attitudes, and the occasional punch
of paw
Last, but not least, a true fixation to any and all foods that are not
vegetables
Minnie has become my entire world. Pitbulls get a really bad rap in this
life. Though when treated and trained well, and when their body language
and needs are listened to- they are absolutely one of the best dogs out
there. She is my best friend, my cuddle buddy, my cheese eater, and my
drama-queen-when-I-stop-petting-her. I don't know what I'd do without her.
