This cake recipe most likely originated somewhere in Central America in
the late 1800’s and became very popular in Mexico in the 19th century.
The Nestle brand even printed a recipe for this cake on cans of
evaporated milk during WWII! It’s still very popular to this day,
especially in Central and Southern America, but also in the Caribbean
Islands and in the United States.
