This wonderful book from author Barbara Oakley takes you along a
motivating path to learning - not only for learning math and science but
basically any subject. In order to better understand how we learn and
for writing this book, Barbara Oakley has researched neuroscience and
cognitive psychology.
This book therefore not only provides tips, tricks and tools on
how to tackle any intimidating material but also looks at the way we
memorise information and how working memory and long-term memory
function.
This book includes helpful strategies to group
information, recall what we've learnt and on how to memorising material
more efficiently or on how to deal with procrastination.
Before becoming an engineering professor Barbara Oakley knew what it
meant to be troubled by and struggle with math. Moving from a linguistic
background on to a career in engineering, she has managed to retrain her
brain towards math and science.
Learning to me is a great privilege and I think everyone who loves
learning, will enjoy the strategies outlined in this book. I'm grateful
my friendly colleague recommended it to me and I'm happy to share it
here with my little project for SheCodes. :-)
