In the western part of Nigeria, one of our local foods is called amala and abula. Amala is made from yam flour, while the abula comprises two soups and pepper sauce. Abula is the combination of Ewedu soup, Gbegiri soup and pepper sauce. Amala is so popular that even people from other parts of Nigeria and foreigners stop by to eat our delicacies. It is served to people in parties like the naming ceremony, wedding ceremony, Thanksgiving etc. If you have not served amala in any Yoruba party, you have not entertained your guests. It is mostly eaten in many homes as lunch or dinner. The food is packed with a lot of varieties, like assorted meats. This meal is an energy booster. The recipes are easy to get and don't take much time to prepare. I love this meal because it is packed with a lot of health benefits.
